I think I was a little bit in love with this singing fellow, but maybe it was the margarita talking:
I guess I just have so much respect for the people who make a living doing their music, whatever sort of music it is. I'm a little bit jealous, and wonder what my life would have been like if I had tried to do it with my fiddle.
Look at the beautiful faces. This is a job--maybe sometimes, I hope, a joy too, but a day job nonetheless:

Beautiful. Fun. Festive. And look, they still have Christmas lights up!!
I'm hungry. Do they make a simple soft shelled vegetarian taco served with a wee bit of sour cream, salsa verde and scallions? Oh, and a lime. Good. I'll take three! The singer's lookin' mighty fine!!!! I don't drink hard liquor, but I'm nursing a glass of chardonnay. I can see what you mean. He's cute! Oh and he can sing. And he's Latin. But honey, he has a wife and kids? Oy vey.
Happy Trippin'
XO
P.S. Yes, I'm trying to catch up. I wrote comments on all the new ones. I'm really enjoying your travels. Hope you're having fun. ;)
P.P.S. Can you still play the fiddle? HA!!! ;) I know how fingers get rusty. If you can, why not go out and play? So many joints have open mic night. Take a chance baby. Love you.
I'd have liked to have seen your feet a-tapping, and your eyes sparkling as you had a wee swally and maybe even a dance as well?
what, no music to share? Well, that sounds like a fun meal...one time on my birthday i was at a Mexican restaurant; they made me put on a big sombrero!
As long as they don't come and hang around the table for hours on end! Mmmmm Margaritas ...
Music and margaritas...hope you are chilling and relaxing and enjoying the vibe :)
See, that's me!
xxx
music and margarita's always bring joy to the job, don'tcha know.
I see why you feel in love with the singer of the band. What a hottie!
I was first here and computer crashed. Look how many have posted in my absence.
I'll take mine over not blended.
Sure looked like a lot of fun. The last photo's a bit blurry though...was that the margarita talking? :)
i miss really good tex-mex food, sugar! *sigh* xooxox
Suzy, I can totally play my fiddle, I'm very partial to Irish music lately...Sarge got me a book of Irish fiddle music for my birthday a few years ago and I've never looked back--it's so different from my classical training, and in a way so much freer and more fun!
Jimmy--it's too bad you weren't there!
Tom--those real, ornate sombreros are darn heavy aren't they!
Baino--these fellows didn't outstay their welcome, and in fact never came to our table...I admired from afar.
Cinnamon--I'm trying to enjoy! I tell you, alcohol really helps take the edge off...
map--I was actually thinking of you as i wrote this. For real, no lie!
Brian--I think you may be right--I wonder if the mariachi band indulges in some straight up tequila? Somehow I think so...
Ronda--yes, please join us in a nice cold stiff drink! And I'm glad you agree about the dude--I could just imagine wrapping my arms around his portly adorable waist.
Devil--it was fun! and you may be right about that blurry photo...
Sav--I miss it terribly when I'm back in NYC. They just don't get it quite right, and it's one of my fave cuisines...
Serious men doing a serious job.
mago, they do look serious, don't they?
And they keep their "Würde".
The guy in the last pic looks extremely displeased, as if someone just played a series of bum notes. I think that kind of informal music in a small venue is often much more enjoyable than the over-produced mass-audience mega-gigs.
I love Mariachi bands! I wanted one for our wedding reception but my uptight Irish/Catholic mother-in-law was having none of that.
I know, it does seem like a wonderful day job. I wish I'd kept playing too.
Sx
Oh I wanted to be there. Such wonderful faces. Couldn't you and Scarlet start a cyber band. A fiddle and sax is a good start. No?
That does look like a fun evening!
They really do look so serious :D
I don't find the singer attractive in any way though :o sorry hehehehe
I've never been to a place like that!
Looks like great fun, more authentic than some of the stuff we have over here.
Abi's such a snob. We'll have to haul her ass into one of those joints when she visit America. She'll never look back! She'll eat soft shelled tacos for life!
You and Scarlet. Hummmmm. A fiddle and a sax. Hummmmmmmm. I'm trying to imagine PI's vision. I'm seeing Irish music and Jazz. Hummmmmmmmm. Fusion. Hummmmmmmm. Interesting concept.
Of course I know you can still fiddle. I was just messin' with your head!!! Why? Because I'm your sista honey!!! And Irish music. Oh. Dear. God. Don't even get me started. I'm Polish, French and English, but in my soul, I know I'm Irish. I think a sperm got lost in London! The Irish inspire me, make me laugh, think, sing, cry. I'm Irish through and through. Unfortunately my DNA doesn't prove it. Damn. I have so many Irish CD's I could be a lending library, especially at Christmas! No. I'm not kidding. Baby, play the fiddle for me. And by the way, do you realize the roll of the fiddle in the South? I'm certain that's why you're on this journey. To soul search the fiddle. What? Mamma didn't birth no idiot.
I love you. I hope you're having a blast. I would love to hear you play. When I come home I promise to impose upon you. Promise.
XO
I had a bean burrito for lunch and am drinking a margarita now! Woo Hoo! Did the party start early here?
So - y'all - can't tell you enough how good these are: (It would only be courteous of me to share...)
Visions You'll See Margaritas:
Equal parts frozen name brand* lemonade concentrate, name brand limeade concentrate, triple sec, cheap beer, double tequila and water to taste - yum delish. Suze won't drink 'em so that leaves more for the rest of us...don't remember where I posted this before - they are dangerously good.
*tried store brand once and the batch was disgustingly sweet and nasty. Enjoy!
You guys have got to come to Los Angeles...
Thank God Merelyme isn't breast feeding. Give me some of that there damn burrito woman!!! It's funny how most of us who live in CA live on Mexican food. Couldn't survive without it. Not the really heavy fake crap, but good, authetic Mexican cusine. Light, delicious, perfection. I know you know what I mean!
Please do me a favor my dear friends and visit my comment page. Click on "Otin" at the top. You won't regret it. Then click on "Un Mom" on his current post. You'll laugh your ass off on both. I'm doing this as a public service. Trust me. Just do it. You're welcome.
Love you,
Moi
but maybe it was the margarita talking
I frequently receive messages from my martinis.
I would love to play for a living too..but only if I lived like the Stones and had all the brown smarties removed from my dressing room.
They obviously love playing, well Keif does fo' sure, but those guys are still rockin' in their 60s!
Remember when Daltrey sang, "Hope I die before I get old?"
Pfft!
I could totally see your attraction to the first guy. A beautiful face, he had.
Glad you had fun, your summer is shaping up to be a great one! I'm glad you are sharing it with us!
I love the mariachi bands. One of the highlights from the Mrs. Shife's and I honeymoon in Mexico. Hope you are enjoying yourself still on the vacation.
