Fields of Athenry

Today I'm thankful for favorite family songs and long-lived romance...

I'm thankful for Hedgehog's little piping voice singing along while Sarge plays "Fields of Athenry" on his guitar.

I'm thankful that both Sarge and Hedgehog love to dissect and discuss song lyrics with me.

I'm thankful that after all these years, I still love a slow dance with Sarge, to "Misty Morning, Albert Bridge" or "Dixieland Delight."

family songs and slow dances sound so wholesome and romantic and lovely.......
just today i was thinking of my mum's saying "if you want to love your kids, love their father" (or mother, as the case may be) how right that is, and how right you have got it!

I like that saying, and I think it's true. We try. I think music makes it all easier somehow...

Leah...first tome I stopped by here too. What do i see. One of my favorite Drop Kick Murphys covers. I'm sure their version is alittle bit more up tempo though.

MJ--you can cut in if you like, feel free!

Rob--I heard the Drop Kick Murphys' version and loved it--very up-tempo, sorta rock n' roll--but that song lends itself to interpretation!

I'm thankful for family songs too! The best is when my dad sings "Younger than Springtime" to my mom.

Megan--that's lovely!

Mike the Waiter--it's brilliant. I'll have to remember that bit of verse...
