Secret Joy

Today while Hedgehog was at a bowling party in Manhattan, I somehow found myself in Anthropologie, a store that has haunted my dreams for years. It is so exactly my taste in clothing that it's as if the designers entered my dreams and stole my aesthetic. However, the prices and the fact that often the clothes would make a coltish 12-year-old look zaftig, have prevented me from fulfilling my decades-long fantasy of owning a dress from this store.

Well, this afternoon I finally bought a dress. My favorite dress I've ever owned. Go check it out if you feel like it, HERE. I have many plans for this dress. I shall wear it with a thin drapey red long-sleeved t-shirt, boots, and tights in winter. In spring, with wedge-heeled sandals and a light sweater.

I love you, darling darling Secret Joy dress.

That will definitely look better on you than it would on me.

Are you sure? It kinda reminds me a little of a gown that David Bowie wore on the original cover of "The Man who Sold the World," and it was a super good look for him!

Oh, SUCH a cute dress. I love it. It'll look great on you. Glasses or no glasses. Shoulders or no shoulders. LOL.

leah,
it's a great dress. i can just imagine the outfits you have mentioned.
i had a bit of a look at the anthropologie rangeand theres some really good stuff there and the prices seem not too bad, not supercheap but reasonable for investment pieces.
i like the road ahead dress.
actually, i was going to list my favourites but theres too many....

enjoy!

Anthropologie is my style, embodied. Too bad their prices aren't my budget, embodied. First thing I do when I get back to the States is re subscribe to the catalog. Do you know they don't even let me click through to a link from down here? Every link gets redirected to some page that says, sorry, we don't sell to your country. Argh. I can get around eventually, but following a link is impossible.

BTW...when you are tired of the Secret Joy dress, send it my way. By that time, I should be back in Hawaii, and the shipping will be nice and low. :p

Murali: It's funny, but I thought of you and your aesthetic when I got that dress! It does seem like you! That sucks about not being allowed to go through the links. But in a way, then, not so much temptation. Their prices are incredibly steep for my budget. Hence, the one dress. I saw SO MANY that I loved.

Yah, that dress is just made for me. :p

I CAN get into Anthropologie, but never to a direct item..it always goes to that stupid page, and then I have to hunt up whatever item it was, if I really want to see it. And if someone linking doesn't actually say what it is, I am outta luck. So, yeah, I guess I miss out on a lot of temptation, lol!
