My sister and I were just discussing how much my Grandma Eva would have liked Hedgehog. Grandma was a lady of the old school, the Get Out in the Sunshine or You'll Wither Away like a Pale Talmudic Scholar school. Childhood was for running about, feyly, in the great outdoors whenever the weather permitted. A clement day without a romp in it, no matter how forced, was somehow debauched; a child indoors with her nose in a book, unprincipled...we were, needless to say, a bit of a disappointment in this regard. Hedgehog, not. She's a girl who likes, loves, needs to be outside running races with her friends.
I admit I am still prone to my earlier tendency of retiring, make that fleeing, from the guilt-inducing lovely sunshine...which is why yesterday found me in blazing sun, playing baseball in the park with a gaggle of friends older and young. And why today you'll find me in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens with Hedgehog and our friends, admiring the mother-f-ing cherry blossoms, picknicking, and soaking up salubrious Vitamin D.
I'd rather be indoors knitting and writing, much much much rather, but instead I shall honor Grandma Eva and Hedgehog, and get my ass out there with the energetic masses...and I'll try hard to enjoy it!
I'm not guaranteeing any result, but I'll try.

Take the knitting/reading outside with you... that way you get the best of both words! Nothing beats knitting or reading in the warm sun.
Enjoy the gardens - my wallpaper on the computer is a gorgeous shot I got of the cherry blossoms last spring before I left NYC. They are some of the worlds best flowers.

I love the sun and being outdoors too. I take my books, even my laptop out and sit under the gazebo whenever I can get away with it.

Oi Leah - yes, I bloody love the sun. It was a good 15 degrees last week so I had the old shorts on.
I couldn't give a monkey's what anyone says, trees look better with leaves on. Therefore summer is better than winter.

Fresh air and goodness, I like nothing better than a walk in the hills amidst waterfalls, heather, and the call of birdsong.
But than again, I do live in a most beautiful part of the world.
Walking and talking with the wean can be educational as well as rewarding. Live it and love it...

Hope you enjoyed the day in the sun. I'd have been outside if it hadn't been for the constant rain all day *lol*
Oh I love the outdoors. Mind you I'm just as comfortable watching a DVD and slobbing on the couc or pootling on the net but sunshine puts me in a good frame of mind . .sadly it's beaming down today and I have to spend the day locked in at work.
Just imagine the trip as an interactive book. Kind of like those ones in the Harry Potter books where the characters come to life. Use your camera to take pictures and create your own story. I'll bet you have a good time baskinging the warmth of the sun and quiet existence of the plants.
The only thing that I like to do outside is garden. And since I burn like a ratfink, I am easier on the eyes if I don't stay out in the sun too long....

When I was a kid, I much preferred to be outside. I'd take my knitting or reading out with me, and sit and soak up spring, or fall. Sometimes even winter. Now I rarely venture out, and when I do it is nearly always with a camera, to take pictures of the beauty I see out there. I work a lot, work very hard, so it isn't always easy to find the gumption to go out and DO.
I'm hoping to change that. I've been spending a lot of time out on my balcony, planting plants and flowers and such. Go, me!!
I'm very much a homebody, like you.

Now i am in my own prison.

Living in sunny Southern California, we had sure better like the sun. So glad you are having a nice time out in the sun. What keeps me indoors is allergies. Achoo, achoo, that is what I do outdoors. But I love a cool sunny day. Menopause has made me dislike hot sunny days. But cool sunny days are the best.
