Really Embarrassing Private Moment

Okay, picture me:

all alone blowing down 4th Avenue in Brooklyn in my 1995 Grand Marquis, making all the lights, Hedgehog's hot pink Hello Kitty purse-shaped cd-player on the seat beside me, blasting the soundtrack from "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," me singing along less than tunefully to "Origin of Love," weeping a little at the the poignant lyrics.

And there you have it: a really embarrassing private moment.

hmmm, Hot Pink Hello Kitty!!!

Did you know that there's a Hello Kitty Land in Tokyo? I never visited it, but I was definitely tempted!

Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a brilliant creation - I've only seen it once, but there are certain things that stay in my head...

take care,
Px

Nah private ones are not embarrassing.

Peter, I'm so psyched someone's seen and likes Hedwig. I hadn't seen it since it originally came out in film, but my sis just burned me the cd and I was reliving the whole experience. I love it. And I love Hello Kitty and all things "kawaii"!

Well, maybe I have to agree with Kylie and Ozjane, perhaps private moments shouldn't be considered embarrassing...unless of course one wilfully reveals said private moments to the blogging public...

Leah,

Hedwig is certainly a strange film, but weirdly it draws you into its little world! And I haven't heard the word 'kawaii' in SUCH a long time - oh to be back in Japan hearing most people scream 'kawaiiiiiiiiiii!'

Just listened to the Kinks' version. It's good, but as I'd heard Kate Rusby's version before, and her version is more folky, I prefer hers. The Kinks still rock, though :-)

Did someone say Hedwig? Stop...Leah was that you?! Get out...you too? Strangly fantastic!
LEAHHHHHH!!!! I have missed you dear friend! Work is holding me hostage and trying to kill me.

On the good news front, Jim comes home weekly. Gas prices are killing us...BUT WHO CARES, he is home!

MIss & LoVe ya!
Robyn

I too, love all that is Kawii and Japanese!

Peter--I could see liking the one you'd heard first, since that's then how you "see" the song. And the Kate Rusby version is great. I love her take on it. Covers are sometimes so neat--any chance you've heard the Scissor Sisters version of "Comfortably Numb"?...quite a trip. Maybe I'll put it up...

Robyn--hi girl! I'm so glad Jim is home regularly now--that must be wonderful--but sorry work is TOO MUCH--

anyway, Jim is worth the gas! heehee
