The Flu and Zombie Movies Don't Mix Well

I'm still sick as a dog. Fever still 101. Argh. It's going up and down like a car on the FDR, as I dose with Advil, leaving me weak and schvitzing. The pity party is ongoing, especially as I face another day of being too sick to knit. Yesterday I watched a zombie movie--28 Weeks Later--but I don't think it sat very well, as they say. I was left in a state of feverish freaked-outness. So what television does mix with flu? Sitcoms? Maybe M*A*S*H. That goes with every occasion...

maybe I'm going to need some coloring books, like when I was little...

turn off the t.v. thats the first step. movies yeah, shitcoms no, brainless, mindless programing no...
try watching "the sound of music". one of my personal favs. childrens movies are the best. watch a sad movie. the notebook, what dreams may com, big fish.. keeps your nose running and stuff flowing OUT of yer head. and since i have not been here long enough and read far enough back i dont know if you imbibe. but have several hot toddies, or a butterscotch rum drink. helps with mood elevation and sleep. feel better soon, if not i'll be over here in the corner playing my tiny violins for you...

Good advice, the sitcoms are making me sweat. No, really. I've never had a hot toddy, but perhaps today's the day.

Leah,
I'm honored that you graced my blog with a wonderful heart felt comment on a day you are feeling so badly. I do hope you feel better soon. Inner Voices hot toddie does sound good, shoot, I want one and I'm not even sick. But I have to go to work tomorrow and I am currently home alone with my two 6 year olds, so I think I'll have to skip it. Anyway, thanks for the visit. I hope you feel better soon.

one of my favourite sick tipples is Paul Newman's lemonade, nuked in the microwave with a heaping spoonful of honey.

Like an old fashioned honey and lemon drink, but when you're feeling unwell, who wants to be squeezing lemons? Hope you're out from under the weather soon!

Hi Amanda--I actually might prepare some lemons, weakly and inefficiently, but still--hot lemonade with honey sounds awesome, and easier than the hot toddy which I don't have the wherewithal to construct! Anyway, when I thought about alcohol, I realized that I am extremely lightheaded as it is...lemonade is safer...

Flu's the worst. I recommend hot-and-sour-soup and glossy magazines. You must be really sick if you can't knit! Glad to hear E's got the Dr. impulse--you've clearly set a good example!

28 Weeks Later while sick with flu? That's seriously hardcore. That movie makes you so anxious, I can't imagine that's a good mix, it turned my stomach in knots. Little House on the Prairie reruns, don't they show them on Hallmark Channel or TV Land? That might sit well.

Oh, PS, when I was sick with stomach flu last month, I watched DVD's of Veronica Mars S.1. That worked pretty well for me.
