The first time we spent the night together, at Swarthmore, on that silly futon of mine that was not even 3/4 of a twin bed, I put my head on your warm chest and listened to your heartbeat.  It was strong, I mean it was really strong, it was so outrageously bold just like you were.

I've had to read this a few times before attempting to comment. Raw panic. I felt it. Despair. I felt that too. A profound, instant loneliness. I'm grateful that you can share this, because few people have the courage. As your friends, we want to know. We want to feel what you are going through, so we can dig through the repertoire of our experiences and emotions so we can try to help. I understand we cannot. But I'm still grateful that you have shared. I'm with you in my most loving thoughts.
