As I sit here, trying to have a coffee and write a little post, he's zooming and pouncing, chewing and grabbing. He seems to like, particularly, my special expensive yarn and the hundreds of books that are on doggy level. Mind you, he does have some very nice strong rubber and rope chewy toys. But those hold appeal only for a few minutes at a time, even when I dip his bone in gefillte fish aspic.
I've gotten more exercise in the past few days than in the past year altogether--and am thinking of cancelling my gym membership (seriously, no lie! why bother paying when I've got a very persistent four-legged personal trainer?). This is no sedentary hound.
Now pardon me while I wrestle my precious copy of "Wisconsin Death Trip" from his baby teeth and take him for a run or twenty around the block...

Worry not. There is no such thing as too much puppy.
Isn't Brooklyn the best for pups? Lots of company, streets to explore and territories to mark. Plus, an unending parade to watch from a living room window ledge. Does he bark?
Enjoy your season of puppy!
"gefillte fish aspic" Now that my dear girl is a blog post all on its own.
Enjoy real life hen... come back to us when you're good and ready.
"gefillte fish aspic"
My cats would approve of that!
Any progress in the naming department?
So much for lolling on the sofa with a book and chocolate whilst the family are away!
We forget just how much fun they can be.
Enjoy your long walks together, ambling through the dales of the shire...
Ps There is a tribute to you At the palais, see if you can pick it!
haha. like a little kid...enjoy the run!
Matthew: I tend to agree--especially as it is of limited duration, like any babyhood! Anyway, he has worn himself out now...
UB: he loves Brooklyn so much! I must admit I'm relieved, though. He enjoys the endless meet-and-greet, the sights and smells, and doesn't even seem to be startled by the more-than-occasional loud noises. But you know what's funny? He's quite a rabble-rouser, but so far no bark, really!
willow: thank you my dear, I certainly will try! When I'm not exasperated...I just have to remember it is just that--a season--and treasure it.
Jimmy: if you've never had gefillte fish aspic...well...let's just say: don't. It is legendarily gruesome.
xl: cats would go crazy for that stuff! And re the name...I'm partial to Almanzo (Manly for short) but I'm not sure I'll get any takers on that one...
Pat: I know, really! It's both disappointing and not all at the same time.
Dear Princess: thank you, and I will enjoy those walks. And I am still puzzling over those marvelous tributes...
Brian: he is so much like a little kid! It's reminding me of the old toddler days with Hedgie!
When the boy and girl come home you are going to be able to experience "new puppyhood" all over again!
We just got a gym membership yesterday...a puppy may be cheaper...less what he destroys! Enjoy!
There's nothing like a puppy. I mean that in a good way and a bad way. But they are truly a lot of exasperating fun and make us laugh. Lauging and walking is good for us.
I would not mind the dog chewing on different textiles, but gnawing on the texts? No teeth in my books!
btw my copy came in purple cloth, have to give it back tomorrow - see I'll read the conclusion/summary at the end.
Puppies are soooo much fun and soooo much work! Thankfully, they grow up faster than kids.
May I suggest The Dog Whisperer? I have used his techniques with a number of my dogs and get compliments all the time on how well mannered they are. My 100 lb drooling behemoth is the most laid back and respectful dog you'll meet.
Goodness, he sounds quite a handful! But a life-enhancing and stimulating handful. Those poor books must be quaking in their spines....
Legendarily? That's a bit of a tongue-twister.
Ah, puppy love! :¬)
xxx
Pshaw. Post all the puppy bits you want!
:)
Sorry. Double-tapped.
Fishy aspic . .I can only imagine his breath! Post puppy ad nauseum. You know I have all the time in the world for dogs and doggie people!
Yay, puppy!!!
The are a lot of work, a lot of fun and a lot of love.
You can never post too much puppy!
