An Unwelcome Visitor

As the blizzard covered us softly, stealthily, inexorably in a foot of lovely lovely snow...

I lay sick a-bed with influenza. Still not clear whether it is of the swinish or regular variety, but it hardly matters.

Dutiful wife and mother that I am, I made sure Sarge and Hedgehog had all their shots. Me? No, I'm invincible.

I'm still quite unwell, laid up pretty much completely. I do hope everyone else is faring better!

  1. I'm so sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Take care of yourself, too. With all that snow, it should be easy staying inside and all cozied up. :)

  2. poor leah!
everyone in our house had flu last winter, it was about three days of absolute misery and another few days to recover properly so you should be on the way up pretty soon.
i guess it was good to get snow? i have only seen snow once in my life and the conditions were horrible so i cant relate at all, i'm afraid......

    feel better soon, eh?

  5. At least with all that snow, it is a good time to be laid up. Sending you lots of healing energy. Lots and lots. Today is the solstice, a very powerful time. The healing energy will be magnified immensely. You will feel well soon!

  6. Just to make you green with envy and puce with rage, I haven't had a cold or flu for many years now. I just have mental quirks to deal with instead....

Hope you're fully recovered in time for the festivities. I recommend mega-doses of vitamin C.

  12. Oh dear! Hope you're on the mend very soon.

And why did you not have your shot as well???? Hmmmm????

As a nurse, I advocate immunization wholeheartedly. And if you care enough about your family to make sure they get theirs, you do care enough about them for you to get yours! To protect yourself to be there for them in the future... right?

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now. Go get it a few weeks after you've recovered.

For now, get lots of rest, drink plenty of fluids, take drugs for the symptoms... you know the drill! xoxo

  17. Yeah Capt'n Invincible, happy choughing and sneezing. When you see things it'S the fever, not the second face. Here the temperature went up overnight, snow melting, sending my circulatory in the cellar

  18. Lucky for you I'm not the type to say, "I told you so." Hope you're on your feet soon. Wasn't that a fantastic storm?!!

  19. Leah, I hope you recover soon without any secondary complications which I've suffered. I'm on the mend, and will most likely be back at work today, providing there is work for me to do. Still not 100%, but the bills won't pay themselves!

I've found a wonderful tea that has helped me recover quickly, it's called Yogi tea, with triple echinacea. It's a wonderful soothing blend, and doesn't give you that sickly feeling when you drink it. Very aromatic and flavorful. I add either honey or plain sugar. Three cups a day had me recovering much more quickly.

    Take care, my friend!

  21. Look on the bright side: you're excused the frantic holiday rush around. Make the most of some rare leisure and allow the family to pamper you. Get well soon and I hope it isn't too uncomfortable.xox

  24. Aww poor thing. I've dodged it this year. Take care of yourself. We invincibles aren't quite as invincible as we imagine. Then my MIL had here shot this winter and promptly collapsed with the flu! Chicken soup for the soul. Have a good festive season and take care of yourself.

  25. oh no! well, i am sure it will clear up soon...and you will be as invincible as ever...happy holidays to you and your family.

  26. Sorry to hear you are under the weather. May I suggest that you drink garlic juice. It tastes horrible, but then again, you probably can't taste anything anyway. But it may help a little.

  27. Get well soon. And it says something so nice about your nature that you call it "lovely snow." We have a foot on the ground, just finished up an ice storm and are now expecting another storm to lay out another foot of snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas.

And me? I don't find it one bit lovely. That probably says something about my nature.

  29. It’s that time of year again! I’m doing the rounds and apologising for my complete failure to more regularly offer comment on everybody’s incredible efforts for the year. I know how hard it can be to keep up with the daily grind of everyday posting, and want to thank you for your efforts.
