Thankful for the Brave Ones

Men and women, the veterans of war and of peacetime, and the conscientious objectors who served as medics, those who came home and those who didn't, those drafted and those enlisted, all of them...

  1. A heartfelt post, Leah

    ODE of REMEMBRANCE

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
    We will remember them.

    "Lest we forget"

    Thank you and Amen

  3. Beautifully expressed, Leah.

I observed services in 3 different time zones today via Internet radio, television, and then in person.

First Ireland (ancestral home), then Ottawa (Canada's capital city), and finally Vancouver.

A very emotional day, as it is for so many.

  4. I said "THANKS" out loud; my kids thought I was losing my mind until I explained. They said thanks, too.

  5. Mark--thanks for including the verse. I really love when you add verses to posts--it's always deeply appreciated. Poetry is one of the ways I come closest to my real feelings about things, and I guess that's true for you too!
