nervous but excited

I am in the process of booking a flight to L.A. for the most thrilling blogger meet-up ever. People I have known for years, but never met in person, people I love, flying in from--literally--all over the world (okay, one of us anyway).

The catch is that I am an extremely nervous girl. I mean, prone-to-level-10-panic-attacks nervous. I've not flown alone since I was in my early 20s, daring myself to take a journey to Jerusalem to live and study. Leaving Sarge. Stop-over in England for three days of solo meanderings. I was nervous the whole time, but it was worth it, oh so very worth it. It is a challenge for me to do this again; even the planning is making me breathe a little faster.

It's not the flying so much as it is the being away from home. And I know many many people who do it all the time, carefree. Alas, I'm not one of them.

But it's good to keep challenging one's self, isn't it? To keep the blood flowing, the heart beating?

OOoooo!! Leah's Big Adventure! How exciting!!! Yes, a challenge is always good. Keeps you on your toes. Just remember that this is a fun trip... and that any nervousness will just be your excitement coming to the surface.

I envy you this kind of trip... I would do it in a heartbeat with a few certain somebodies across the pond. I hope you have a blast, Leah!

Not that you're *old* -- you're not -- but it has been a bit and I'd say it was time for an adventure. I've had three blog meet-ups so far and they were all great, great experiences.

UB, we should have a spring meet-up!
It just occurred that if I'm travelling 3000 miles I could travel into Manhattan one of these months!

Sounds like fun! I tend to think most things of value are accompanied by some form of discomfort, so face those nerves and enjoy.

I'm a nervous air traveller but hey, you get to have a bloggy meet up which is something to look forward to. You're the second blogger I've heard of doing this. Have fun.

I'd recognise you anywhere hen, but it's probably best if you carry a bouquet of flowers and we meet under the clock at Union Station (wherever the hell that is) just in case.

I'm not at all nervous about flying, even long haul to Oz. But I don't like travelling on my own, I get very self-conscious. Meeting other bloggers is always fun. The trouble is most of my blogmates are in obscure corners of the States. You're probably the most accessible. The next time I'm in NYC I must get to Brooklyn....

I. Cannot. Wait.

You will have a ball!

I met up with two bloggers a while back, one local and the other from your side of the pond (though originally from here). It was a great night (so I'm told!) :¬)

Mago, you are seriously one of the bloggers I MOST want to meet. Is it the aura of mystery? The kindness? The intellect? Or all of those...

I have found that Dramamine works beautifully to calm my nerves on an airplane. It helps the ear dizzies too. I wish I were going, but I do have to work. Take lots of pictures for me!
