  3. I'm flattered by your curiosity about my very uninteresting handwriting. It'll take me a little while to write something, take a photo and post it. Pazienza, signora! But I know what you mean about the emotional resonance of a letter. When I was at boarding school, I always looked forward to letters from my father and was joyously happy when I received one. But I can't recall ever getting any serious love letters from anyone. Most disappointing.

  4. I like your "e's".

    Cool idea!

  5. Don't tag me, you would not be able to read it!

  6. Ooooh lovely! I might have a go...

  7. I'll do it. I love this idea. At first I thought it was "Wee-Wee." What fun to learn it was you.

    Welcome home darling.
    XO

  8. mago--thank you for tagging me! I just wish I could figure out how to make the photo bigger. Then I really would start posting entries in handwriting all the time.

savannah--I would LOVE to hear voice clips!!! If someone can tell us how, I'm so in.

nick--don't worry, I'm patient! But I really am curious about your handwriting.

Megan--the little "e"s or the big ones? I looked at the little ones again after i read your comment and noticed that they have little sharp corners...hm. Should I be worried?

otin--but I'm a wiz at deciphering tricky writing, you know!

Abi--I'm officially tagging you! I'd love to see a handwritten post if you can do it!

Suzy--I'm tagging you too! I've seen your writing--when you wrote a card to dear Robyn from all of us--your handwriting is so like you, too. It's very nice, generous handwriting.

  9. Leah: you know what I feel about it but - not wishing to be churlish - I shall do my best to do it - maybe Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I will definitely do this! Your handwriting is rather like mine, Leah - basically, we print with a flourish, don't we?
Tomorrow. Look for something handwritten tomorrow.

  11. Pat dear--no worries, I would never think you churlish! And by the way, churlish is one of my fave words--excellent that you use it too!

    xo

Kat--yay! I can't wait to see it. And yes, that's a good way to describe it--printing with a flourish!

  12. I have some old hand-written love letters that I cherish. Most are of the Hallmark express thyself variety and one is downright pornographic. But you're right. They're special because they're hand-written.

Is your handwriting really that neat or did you compensate because you knew you were going public with this one?

  13. Handwriting never seems to match the person writing it. I thought yours would be cuniform and flowing . . .mine's terribly backhand because I'm left handed and could never twist my hand around to make it slant forward. OK I have to do a shopping list today so might post it tonight! And yes, I have lots of hand written letters and postcards, sadly I don't write much by hand these days at all.

    ReplyDelete
  14. UB--It's really that neat. My whole family has tidy writing, but I married into a scrawl family. It's a mixed marriage.

  15. Baino--I think my writing reflects my nervousness more than anything. I can't really do script writing very well, for some reason, but I can do that curious thing called joined-up print, do you know what I mean? We were taught it in third grade by our teacher, who was Danish. But my script is peculiar.

Please post your shopping list, that's a great idea!

  16. nice. interesting. does remind me a bit of a note from school. we don't hand write many notes much anymore. had not thought about that until this. just an occassional brithday card...or note to my wife...hmm...may need to fix that.

  17. My nice generous writing is coming directly to you. It's too fun.

    Love you,
    XO

  18. Wasn't Otin supposed to be over her helping me backhoe or something? Men.

  19. OMG! You tagged me? OK, I'll do this one. It is easy enuf. I need EZ right now.
    Loved your post.

  20. The little e's. They have a cleanliness about them that I like.

  21. I believe that your style of handwriting reflects a far more intimate and sensual side to the Leah that we all enjoy.

Your sometimes lack of confidence at times could be the calm before a frequent sexual storm.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Leah: the deed is done. I now need to go and lie down.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Very distinctive handwriting. Not a style I've seen very much of. I love seeing these handwritten posts, and although I'm not tagged, I'm tempted to do one. It's great seeing something more about the people behind these blogs.

I never received written love letters, or indeed any letters, over the past 20 odd years. I feel somewhat bereft now.

  24. You and Mago both got Penis Books in the mail from me so you've seen my handwriting already.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I've just posted my handwritten post too, thanks for the inspiration :D

  26. Brian--now, wouldn't it be romantic to get handwritten notes from and send them to your spouse? I'm thinking of trying it out here at home too. Hedgehog just yesterday set up cardboard mailboxes outside our rooms, and we've been sending letters back and forth to each other. I'll bet your boys would like that too!

Suzy--can't wait to see it--and I'm workin', I'm workin'! But another road trip? You'd better do the driving!

Ronda--I'm psyched! It is EZ, and fun, and all the things a nice meme should be! xo

Megan--thanks! Clean rather than sharp--I'll go with that.

  27. Jimmy--how alarmingly well you've got me pegged. Sexual Storm just happens to be my middle name, ask anyone. Notice I didn't tag you? The Interwebs would implode from the sheer force of your handwriting I feel sure.

Pat--you are so funny! I'll fetch a cold compress.

Mme DeF--you must do it! I'm tagging you! And you must also demand a little love note, handwritten. Just one is enough.

MJ--I, like Mago, treasure my not one but two postcards from you. You have lovely hand--I think the all caps are beautiful.

Abi--I'm just dashing over to check it out!

  28. Wow, that is the best MEME ever. I'm going to try that one, but it may take me a while because I'm technically inept with my digital camera. I can take the photos but have no clue how to get them on my computer. Maybe I should sit down and figure it out one day?

I've missed you. I haven't visited in a while but I'm going to make a regular part of my blog routine now...

    Hope you are well!
    XOXOXO

  29. Leah, doll.. I'm Glaswegian, you know that we cannae read or write this side of the ocean.

    Lucky Sarge by the way.

  30. You wanted to know what I thought about YOUR handwriting and I never said. I love it, it's very individual and distinctive. It's also very meticulous and precise, which I suppose reflects what I know of your character. For some reason I expected something quite different, rather flowery and embellished. But are you a flowery person? I think not.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Very neat and innocent looking handwriting you got there. In pencil too.

    ReplyDelete
  32. RANDOM!!! I missed you too--see what reactivating my facebook account did? Now I can deactivate it again...

Jimmy--Ah well of course that settles that. I'm still holding out hope for a vocal though--

nick!--you are a sweetie. Thank you for the nice comment. It's true, I'm not a very flowery person, but definitely given to flights of fancy...And I did enjoy your comment and the post at Baino's (I was actually referring to what had already been written, rather than fishing for further elaboration--though it's always delightful to hear more!)--I was self-involvedly enjoying the speculation over my handwriting--I really am getting more solipsistic as I grow up--is that too shameful an admission, or does it happen to the best of us?

Emerson--it's innocent looking? I like that. Especially because I'm as far from innocent as smog is from a clear mountain spring...can I pretend to be an ingenue then?

  33. Hi Leah- great idea! Yours is not what I imagined (I thought it would be more ornate!)

It seems to be an honest hand. We might just have to get one of those handwriting experts to analyse it.

Oh yes, I can remember the thrill of getting long-hoped-for letters in a familiar hand!

    ReplyDelete
  34. No one would be able to read mine, and yours is so neat

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love this very much and I will do it!Thank you Leah!

  36. You have such crisp and neat handwriting! Envy that. :)

  37. This is such a cool and amazing idea!!! I might just do this, and give you kudos!!! I love this!

And Jimmy... good lord, that man makes me swoon.

    I love your handwriting.

And you are right, it evoked some very powerful emotion, seeing it. Very personal, and intimate. Beautiful idea, doll.

  38. Good morning Leah,

I've been back-tracking to find the origins of the hand written post and this seems so very Leah.

It ushered memories of actual letters I received that I never responded to. I am saddened that I never reciprocated.

I have decided to write a post (upon my return home).

Thank you for the inspired thought.

    U

  39. VERY cool meme. So interesting to see something so personal as handwriting, and all it unintentionally reveals, when usually all we see is an edited blog post. :p
