We leave tomorrow in the early a.m. for parts unknown--well, parts known but not clearly.
I have abandoned my Easy Rider allusion as it becomes clearer that the upcoming epic will be more burdened than easy...but such is the privilege of traveling with a little one.
There is so much we can't do with Hedgehog--ghost tours, honky tonks, voodoo shops, getting drunk in New Orleans, buying and setting off fireworks in the Carolinas--but we're substituting swimming pools and alligators and
this place so in the end it will be satisfactory, one hopes.
Well, we shall see, we shall see...
Goodness, off on another trip, your wanderlust must be getting very pronounced. I look forward to your bulletins. Cleburnes looks good - a breath of fresh air (and fresh food) in a country supposedly passionate about the artificial (well, that's the stereotype anyway)!
ReplyDeleteBe safe.. enjoy everything about the trip, and for the love of god... photies and tales for when you return hen.
ReplyDeleteI'm missing you already.
what a grand tour, sugar! i love houston, but i am sorry y'all won't be heading over to savannah on y'alls way! are you going to stop in ashville? xoxox
ReplyDeleteHave a great time with each other. For some reason, I read 'easy rider' as 'eerie spider' - which may make sense to someone. Let's hope that the alligators and swimming pools aren't co-located.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the traveller's tales.
Well done for including a map for the geographically challenged (me) although I still don't know if you are near Savannah's part of the States.
ReplyDelete'There is so much we can't do with Hedgehog--ghost tours, honky tonks, voodoo shops, getting drunk in New Orleans, buying and setting off fireworks in the Carolinas'-
Hedgehogless we are free to do all of that- we don't - so make the most of little H:)
Have a safe trip dear..
ReplyDeleteIf you in AR give me a call and stop by...please..
i'll send my number to your email..
love & ((hugs))
bindi
Can't see why you could not take your kid on ghost tours, voodoo shops and in Whiskey bars. Someone HAS to stay sober then ...
ReplyDeletesafe, yet fun travels...the restaurant looks to be one enjoyed by passengers of all ages. see you soon!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the Deliverance road trip!
ReplyDeleteThe town I live in is listed on that map.
ReplyDeletenick--it is a breath of fresh air, I agree! Although I totally dig over-processed food (shh...don't tell anyone), it generally doesn't make one feel very good--as for the wanderlust, I did have it when I made plans for this road trip, but as I am rushing about getting ready, the desire has ebbed...
ReplyDeleteJimmy--you needn't miss my delightful self too much, I shall post from the road I hope, if all goes well...
sav--I am sorry too that we won't be passing your way. That would have been so wonderful to meet you! Sarge suggested 85 through Atlanta, to 65, to 10--he's done it that way before. We will be spending the first night in South Carolina, and the second in Louisiana. That's a whole heckuva lot of driving!!!
Mme DeF--Sarge laughed out loud at your comment--it was an unfortunate juxtaposition of alligators and swimming pools! He is a great fan of yours, by the way.
Rima--thank you, I hope so!!!
Pat--you also made Sarge laugh with your "Hedgehogless" comment. But poor Hedgie, she desperately wants me to refer to her by her real name!
Bindi--thank you sweetie! We're not sure yet whether we're taking the Arkansas route on the way home. We're going to play it by ear once we hit Texas.
mago!--ha! hilarious. Hedgie would probably love it...
Brian--it is definitely enjoyed by all, and hopefully by us! See you soon!
Bob--oh lord, you're right...
Cece--I'm guessing where you are--I know the general vicinity!
Oh have a great trip- a change is as good as a rest- even if the trip is exhausting! Have lots and lots of FUN!
ReplyDeleteWow some trip. Don't worry about the 'grown up' stuff too much. That'll happen quick enough. We now all fight over who's going to be the designated driver! Does't seem a heartbeat since I was road tripping with booster seats in the back! Lot's of photos please for those of us who travel vicariously! Be safe!
ReplyDeleteDrive safe. Looking forward to the updates. Wish you were driving all the way West.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteWe are escaping soon *without* any small people... I can't wait... ;)
ah cool!Enjoy!:)
ReplyDeleteWhat’s stopping you from recreating the Peter Fonda cemetery scene from Easy Rider while you’re in New Orleans?
ReplyDeleteI mean other than the fact that Fonda’s character was high on acid.
When you get back (and I do hope you're having a wonderful, safe and fun trip), please check the post "Unfinished Business" on my blog and look for your name. Okay?
ReplyDeleteKat
